Children's Centre Project

Image of CCP logoThe Children’s Centre Project (CCP) was initiated by NCB in 2001 and brought together a group of organisations whose aims included improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of existing services.

The CCP's aims and objectives were:

  • To improve the current efficiency and effectiveness of services provided by the partner charities
  • To identify new joint services and activities for development
  • To develop a new culture of joint working between partner charities that can maximise the impact of service delivery
  • To disseminate the lessons from the process and ensure they are translated into practice elsewhere in the voluntary sector
  • To provide an essential resource for new agencies
  • To engage effectively with children and young people, their parents, carers, policymakers and professionals in the children’s sector and raise the profile of children’s issues
  • To prepare an organisational infrastructure for relocation into the new building.

In 2005, The Big Idea steering group was established to ensure the involvement of children and young people in the CCP. The Big Idea toolkit outlined best practice and provide practical materials for involving children and young people in the design of buildings.

Funding ceased and the CCP project ended in March 2008.
